Say on the Hello Kitty site or whatever site there is a star I want to use to put on my shirt. I blow it up and edit it. Is it okay to wear that around places? I didn't make the star; what should I do and what should I answer to people who asked where I got my shirt?

If the question is in the legality of it, then it is perfectly legal for you to have it, as long as you don't intend to sell this shirt, or make any sort of profit from it. Think of it as free advertising for them.

or tell them the truth and just be like well i made it but i took it fromt hello kitty website!!

Don't worry about it. If someone curious asks you where you got it from, say you got it at a garage sale! :]
