OCD

Question Posted Thursday March 23 2006, 11:50 am

I think i might have OCD

-Ive got a habit of washing my hands after everything or whenever touching something. Even when im by a sink i wash them.
-If a word comes into my head, i have to say it otherwise i panic, no word in particular just anything.
-I brush my hair every 5 minutes.
-I look in the mirror all the time
-If somethings out of place i have to move it back.
-I have to double check everything like make sure the doors are shut.
-When i touch something i have to touch it with my other hand aswell so its equal.

Haha my really good friend Haley had the same problem. But you don't have OCD unless you have a reason for doing all of these things. Do you perfrom them because you're scared something is going to happen if you don't? If you do then you have OCD. If you don't then you don't have OCD. Trust me, I've had experience =D.

I'm pretty sure that you have OCD.
Talk to your doctor and see what he says. Tell him what you told me. ALL of the symtoms. Good Luck!

yes, you may have ocd & you should check with your doctor to get tested. i've seen documentary's on this, and the people with OCD did similair things as you; if they touched something w/ their right hand, they'd have to do it with their left as well, etc. these are symptoms of ocd .. but it's not for sure you will have it. you should get it checked out. hope i helped<3

I doubt it. It might be slightly on the side of perfectionist, but it all sounds pretty normal, especially if you're trying to impress somebody or under a lot of stress (just look at what people do around a big event such as a interview).
It's when your actions become uncontrollable and interfere with normal living that you might want to seek help.

You are either have some pet peaves, or you have a slight case of OCD. It's nothing you need to be treated with though. It's OCD if you have a habit of doing something and you freak out if you don't do and something inside of you is making you do this otherwise you feel all wrong and your going to break down. It's also OCD if your habits change from obsessing over one thing to the next. Well..hope that helped!!!!

if you have to do this, i mean like HAVE to, and cant control it, then you most likely have it. i think you should talk to a counselor at school or maybe go to a phsycologist.

Many teenagers and young people will have some OCD symptoms, such as having urges to brush your hair or do actions as they come into your head. But you seem to have quite a few symptoms so it might be a good idea to visit a doctor. It doesn't sound like you have it severely but a doctor will be able to diagnose you properly and put your mind at rest.

Everyone has a little OCD as far as I'm concerned. Sounds like you may have it, but not too serverly, I would talk to a psychologist/school counselor, to see if they can help you in any way.
Also, try to learn to maintain self-control. When you feel the need to do something, tell yourself that "it's fine" or something similar.

abcdefg answered Thursday March 23 2006, 12:12 pm:
do you have control over your actions?

If you can control your actions and say "no I dont need to wash my hands"
or be able to say to yourself "my hair looks fine dont touch it!"

Then you dont have OCD.

If you cant control it try buting you focus on something.

I always thought I had OCD so to test myself I started doing things envolving alot of dirt and germs wihtout running water. for example fishing and cleaning the fish. I would rinse them in the lake and focus on catching and even bigger fish. therefore it distracted me from the soap and the bair brush.

of course when i went home I did clean my hands with alot of soap. But I did not agonize myself with washing them while I was out.

Try it and if i does not work consult a doctor.

NOW GO GET DIRTY!
