There is a lot of information about the origins of OCD, and the basic debate is whether it is cause by you brain chemistry or by environmental factors. Most doctors today believe it is entirely genetic but that it can be exacerbated or diminished by your environment. However, although it is a popularly held belief that OCD is genetic is has not been scientifically proven to be a fact. There is a lot of inconclusive research.

Others believe that it is partly genetic but can be controlled through behavioral therapy. There is evidence to suggest that behavioral therapy can be as effective as medication, so is medication the best way to treat OCD or is it possibly harmful to the brain? Another current debate is the possible relationship between a certain strain of strep throat and the development of OCD in children. If that relationships does exist and that strain of Strep can cause OCD is the cause a genetic susceptibility or did the virus somehow alter the chemistry of the brain?

Whatever you choose to argue, construct your thesis like this:
In this paper I will argue that OCD is blah blah blah(whatever your argument is) because ... and list your three main reasons that you think it is true.
I hope that is helpful! Don't spend too much time analyzing everything just start writing what you do know and worry about the organization of your thoughts later if necessary. Good luck!!
