I want to get better at the drums.. how much does talent mat

Question Posted Thursday February 9 2006, 2:03 pm

Well.. I start learning how to play the drums in late November.. The thing is.. Well.. i'm not exactly talented at it.. but I'm alright I suppose. The thing is, I just want to know if I'm at least learning things at a decent speed.. I don't know how to find out, though. Doing a one hour lesson week, and now being able to play both basic rock beats.. is that an average learning speed or below/higher? This isn't an easy question I guess but I'd really appreciate if the rest of you drummers out there would answer. Thanks in advance <3

I'm an ex-drummer, and i think that's a really good speed, playin the drums is not as easy as everyone would think, as long as you put work into it and REALLY like it, and have good patience, then you will succeed as a drummer, you may have to practice for another year before you are absolutely AMAZING. but you'll get there!
