I really want one

Question Posted Monday February 6 2006, 3:58 pm

There a puppies being given away and I really want one. There is a limited amount and my mom said "no" but I still really wnt one. Our past history with pets has not been so great however that does not mean that this dog would be like that. I really love animals and it would be wonderful to have a sweet little friend. What should I do?

It really does depend on this 'past history' which can really affect it. I think the best way to convince them is to research dogs. Learn as much as you possibly can, all about proper care, the nutrition they need, medical problems, how to properly trim their nails, brush teeth, clean ears, etc. Once you have learned all this present it to your parents. :) Hope I help, good luck!

It depends on your "past history". Have your pets gotten good care and attention in the past? Or do you mean that there were complications that weren't your fault (like goldfish that die really easily)?
Anyways, you should let your mom know that it is wonderful to give a pet a home, considering how many out there have no homes with loving owners... I know it must be hard to convince a parent even if you swear you'll take good care of it and they won't have to be involved. Just keep trying, usually parents "give in"- just keep talking about it. You should make it so that there is no reason why you shouldn't have a dog.
And even if you have had a hard "pet past", history doesn't repeat itself THAT much, does it? If it takes so long that those batch of puppies are all taken, then you can still adopt a dog (which I think is really good, just make sure it's a nice family dog that suits your lifestyle). Good luck, keep at it! Puppies rule!

You should talk to her or borrow a friends dog for a couple of days or watch over the dog when they are on vaction. If you do a good job she might change her mind knowing that you are more responsible. My friend did that and it worked for her.
