I highly doubt he's going to crushed because you can't afford anything. Don't feel bad about that.

Why don't you try making him something sweet like a card telling him how special he is or maybe a little scrapbook detailing your relationship. You could print out lyrics that describe your feelings, special memories, paste in pictures of you two, write him a poem or something like that, and put it all together for him. I did that for my boyfriend and he loved it.

hey congradulations! i bet your really stressed out so ill make this short and sweet. i looked in a magazine just recently and it said that 73% of guys would rather get something hand-made from their girl. so make something that has to do with what he likes or just do what i did when i was short on cash. make home-made coupons that are good for one back massage or maybe free kisses!!
luv to hear how it goes.

What I would do would be to go on a nice date. Don't worry about it because most likely it doesn't take flowers or stuffed animals or gold chains or anything to show him how much you care, even if he spoils you. If he's disappointed, he should understand about your money issue and if he doesn't... That probably won't happen. If he is a good as a friend as you say he is, I think he won't care. Just get something simple.
I'm pretty sure Valentines day was actually a holiday that was founded because of a need for increase in gift sales!

You dont need to get him all that fancy stuff. If he spoils you then that is his choice and thats great and really sweet. But he shouldnt except just because he spoils you, You need to spoil him. So get him what you can affored.. Chocolates, roses, cards, teddy bear. Anything that is cute but then again very sweet.

It's not how much the gift is worth that counts, it's the thought. Ya that sounds lame but seriously, just get him some carnations/roses and a nice card, that will mean a lot. :)
