I'm an advicenator on here, but I really need help for this.
[TiNA_DUH]
K, I weigh 145 lbs & I'm 5'3" and I think I'm fat. Now, everyone tells me I'm not [especially guys] but, I feel like I am. I checked my BMI and it's 26 which is overweight. :( That made me feel really bad about myself. In November, I weigh 137. I gained 8 lbs in a little over 2 months. I really wanna lose weight, to weigh 105, so I'll be healthy again, but everytime I try to go on a diet or change my eating & exercise, I never do. I lack enthusiasm. It's either that, or I just never have time. I'm a freshman in highschool, and I'm piled with homework, so it takes me a while & sometimes I babysit, and then I have to do stuff around the house, and by time I'm done with all that & my shower - I don't have time! How do I manage my time so I can exercise and lose this weight. I hate being fat!
Please help me. My confidence is really going down because of it. I know I'm pretty - but I wish I had the body to go along with it.

I am 5'5 and i was underweight to start but i thoguht i was fat and i stoped eating and lost alot of weight and i got very sick. What happend is i went to a nutrisionist (how ever you spell it) and she helped me see that if you eat the rigth foods its fine if you gain weight or w,e cause your healthy. So i think you are fine the way you are and dont lsiten to those BMI things they arent true they are what got me to stop eating. So if your really worried which i dont think you should be you can see a nutritionist and she/he can help you. Ok just please be careful!!!
LindasCounsel answered Sunday February 5 2006, 11:01 am: Dear Tina,
At 5'3" and 145 lbs, you probably look a lot nicer than you think you do. That is not "fat." The one thing I know for a fact that you have to stop doing is calling yourself fat. It's a self-fulfilling prophesy, trust me. You can concentrate on eating healthier and getting more exercise, but I think the key to really losing pounds is to work on self-esteem. The better you feel about yourself, the better you will treat your body. And when is the last time you weighed 105? 105 is very skinny on some people and takes lots and lots of effort to maintain. Try to choose a weight that is easy to maintain but healthy. 125 or 130 is much more realistic than 105. Get involved in something that makes you feel good about your body and your self. As you're working on your "outside", work on your "inside" as well because that is what will keep the weight off. Yoga is excellent in that regard. Drink plenty of water, this will help your skin too and you will look like you're glowing! (P.S. Guys like a little extra weight, a "woman's" body....)
Good luck! [ LindasCounsel's advice column | Ask LindasCounsel A Question ]
bittersweet12 answered Friday February 3 2006, 10:41 pm: i really dont think that theirs any problem with you and no teenager should be on a diet anyways. The BMI that you get from a health class or whatever is not correct it varies greatly from one persons body to anothers. also no matter how much weight you lose you wil always feel the same if you dont have the confidence in yourself from the begginning. what you can do though is simply trying to eat healthier: try not to eat too much past around 7:00, so that your not eating when your metabolism is the lowest along with the fact that you dont need the energy from that food. also dont drink soda, this lady in like arizona stopped drinkin her regular amount of soda and she went from obease to healthy in a good amount of time. dont get frustrated, the healthy amount of weight pple should lose weekly when on a diet is only 2 pounds!finally drink lots of water, it fills you up so you dont binge on junk food and it cleans your system too.good luck and remember to stay healthy not skinny.

Vanity answered Friday February 3 2006, 4:43 pm: If you've no time after school, wake up an hour earlier in the morning and exercise then.
There are alot of dvd's available that are centered around 20 and 30 minute cardio (which you need to be doing in order to burn fat).
I would personally advise that you go out and buy the Yoga Now dvd series (mixes yoga and cardio). That's what I do every day. The whole set is about $40 (you can buy it online or at Target). You get a 30 min workout that you could easily do in the morning and a 50 minute workout that I'm sure you could fit into your weekend schedule. It also comes with a meal plan and alot of information on eating healty to lose weight. [ Vanity's advice column | Ask Vanity A Question ]
depressed0214 answered Friday February 3 2006, 3:38 pm: I know exactly how you feel! I'm a mother, wife, and basically everything!(it seems like anyways) At first I didn't think I had the "time" for exercise either. However, I started drinking water first (of course you know to drink 8 glasses) and once the water started helping I felt better. I mean I felt good enough to do exercise. To be honest with you I don't have the time to exercise either, but I make time for it. See everyone needs sometime to their self and it sounds like your not taking some out for you. If you are serious about losing weight than you will find time to exercise or whatever your going to do to help. One more thing don't let people talk you out of it or make fun of you about it! Best of luck to you! Remember your not alone! Let me know how you do! [ depressed0214's advice column | Ask depressed0214 A Question ]
Tan answered Friday February 3 2006, 2:23 pm: I relate. I totally do. Ok well, if you dont have much time for exercise, why not change your diet. Try and just eat healthily. Besides, try and stop relating exercise with time. Its not always true. Wake up early and go for a jog, get a fitness dvd, you can do it with a friend and have a good time. Also, weekends, go swimming! Either that or dance about when your getting ready for highschool or do a certain amount of press-ups and sit-ups before you go to bed - THEY ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES! And you will see results. As for your diet, well... drink lots of water! seriously, it helps your motabulism (i cant spell sorry!) and eat brown bread and rice instead of white. Snack of fruit not crisps. Come on im sure you know how to be healthy! I belive you can do it. Dont think of your self as being fat. Im sure your not! (I dont know im not to good with lbs i measure in stone) besides, im sure you have lots of other qualities! Let me know how it comes along. Best of luck xxxx [ Tan's advice column | Ask Tan A Question ]
