TheLoveDoctor answered Saturday January 28 2006, 12:32 am: well, if you have windows, then it should have come with system restore cds. mine came with 3. i usually have to restore my computer once every 3 months because of viruses. but, i have the latest windows and all you do is have your laptop off, turn it on and put the cd in right away then it should start and tell you when to switch to what cd. if that doesnt work, then put the first disc in and shut your computer off. then start it back up and it should work, then follow the directions. TheOldOne answered Friday January 27 2006, 11:55 pm: Install a good antivirus program. I recommend AntiVir, because it's free, updates frequently, and is easy on your system. I have to specifically recommend against using McAfee, because they were a total nightmare for me and a lot of other people that I know - and McAfee's antivirus program slows many systems down to a crawl.
While you're at it, you should also download and install the following free programs:
Once you've installed those programs, update each one of them. That's pretty easy to do, just look for the "Update" option in each program. You need to get them fully up to date. Then run a full system scan with each program (except SpywareBlaster, which doesn't have a scan option - it just blocks spyware).
russianspy1234 answered Friday January 27 2006, 11:19 pm: download a free trial of an antivirus (mcafee is best) from download.com if that doesnt get rid of it then you may have to reinstall windows, it isnt fun, but it sometimes has to be done, i had to do it a few weeks ago. just pop in the windows cd that came with your computer. you can also try the system restore, programs>accessories>system tools> system restore. if that isnt working then recovery is your best bet. how to do that depends on the brand of computer you have. if its an HP restart and push F10 as its booting. most others come with a cd called system recovery. that however, in most cases is even more annoying because it uninstalls al of your programs, but leaves their shortcuts and system files intact.
