ok so i will be turning 18 in a month and my boyfriend will to. and we would really like to move out with each other to get out of the house. but the only thing is we are both in high school. and do schools still accept you if you live on your own? and does anyone know what the deal is with colleges and what there policy is for a non-married couple living together?
pootietang answered Friday January 27 2006, 4:35 pm: i dont care if you rate me low. you are making a mistake because:
-by moving in with your boyfriend, you will have SO many responsibilities: bills, insurance, transportation, school..
-your moving in with your boyfriend. HELLO! how naive can you get?? so what if you "love this guy with all your heart", get married first for goodness sake. and explore! how do you know if hes perfect when you havent met enough good guys out there?? besides, marriage and moving in can always wait, since your "passionate love" is so pure..yeah right
-your parents probably wont be there to lend you a hand. YOU are choosing to leave them because you feel you are mature enough. part of being mature is living with your mistakes and not leaning on mom and dad. are you really ready for something that will COMPLETELY CHANGE YOUR LIFE all because the hottest football player at your school asked you out?? please..

Think long and hard about moving in with someone. If it doesn't work out will you be able to go back home or will you get a job and stay where you are. Hope I helped. As for colleges, it depends on the college. Most will probably allow you to live together. Some won't - Bob Jones University leaps to mind.

I suppose high schools differ in their policies. There is no rules against it here. They just make you the one responsible for expenses instead of your parents.
As for college, I don't think they really care. You probably couldn't live in a dorm room or anything, but living off campus isn't a problem. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
