why do people lie?

people lie because they are either bored of the truth, scared of it or don't want it to hurt people.

Theres a lot of reasons, Such as:
Their not satisfied with their own lifes, So they make it seem so much better/worse than it really is.
If people make their life out worse than it really is, It's usually for attenion & for people to feel sorry for them because they don't get enough attenion & love at home.
People lie about clothes, money, cars & other things like that just to fit in with the right people.
People lie about how many people he/she have been with to make their self look like a stud/player or just to not look like a slut.
Some people lie just because it's became a horrible habit they've picked up.

1) To protect someone else , they don't want to hurt you
2) To protect themselves and not get into trouble
3) To make others think they are a cool
4) To make themselves feel special
5) To make them look as if they are better than others, to spite others
6)To make others feel happies about themselves
7) To gain respect
8) To get people to like them and make friends

People lie because they want what's best for themselves, and more rarely people lie because they want what's best for others. I hope this helped.

There are a lot of reasons that people might lie. They might lie to impress someone, get something they want, or so that they don't get into trouble. People might lie to seem more interesting or because they don't want to be embarassed by the truth. People lie for all sorts of reasons.

This article i guess you could say explain it as best as it can be explained. I just say that people lie for reason like:
*Trying not to hurt your friends feelings
*Trying to gain self confidence or trying to get people to like them more
*Keeping from suffering any kind of punishment
