well bruching with bacarbonate of soda ( not baking soda) will whiten you teeth but remember to brush with you regular fluoride toothpaste afterwards. as for hydrogen peroxide do not swallow but can be used as a mouthwash if it id dilute and is not done to often, i dont recomend this though as it can damage your health Just stick to the bacarbonate of soda and you will have a shiny smile in no time! :D but what ever you do please stay away from lemon juice it seriously damages you teeth and does alot more damage than good.

Whitening strips like Crest Whitestrips work very well also. However I do not recommend any kind of whitening until after your braces come off. The spots covered by the braces will not be whitened and this will lead to uneven coloring and spotting on your teeth. [ Gabriel's advice column | Ask Gabriel A Question ]

It's fine to kill infection once in a while, but in the concentrations that are available in drug stores, you're more likely to develop pretty serious oral problems long before you see any whitening effect.
Most professional whitening systems that dentists use contain hyrdrogen peroxide, but it's in a much higher concentration than the kind you can buy. And it's usually in a gel or some sort of containment system to keep the peroxide on your teeth, and NOT on your gums where it can do damage.
I've used hydrogen peroxide to deal with canker sores and minor gum infections, and it's great for that. But it's just not a good idea to try to whiten your teeth with it at home. Have a dentist do it professionally, or if you can't afford that, get one of the commercial whitening products that are being sold in most stores. They're less than $30. Pour the hydrogen peroxide on your tooth brush and then put on some baking soda over it, then brush your teeth with it. Leave it on your teeth for at least two and a half minutes then rinse your mouth. After you finish brushing with that, brush again with regular toothpaste to get the taste out of your mouth. I think it is better to do it when you get your braces off. PS: Don't do this more then once a week. [ emster812's advice column | Ask emster812 A Question ]

It's 100% safe to use as long as you don't sallow it. What you do is pour a little bit of hydrogen peroxide on your toothbrush and then put some baking soda on top, brush your teeth with your mixture, being sure to leave it on your teeth for at least two minutes. Rinse your mouth when you're done. Don't do this more then once a week. Also it's best you do this after you get your braces off. After you finish brushing with this free paste, brush again with regular toothpaste to rid your mouth of the taste as well as the peroxide solution. You will be amazed at just how white and bright your teeth will be!
