rudy answered Sunday January 8 2006, 10:34 pm: First thing that you must do, is stop putting yourself down, just because you arent 115 pounds does not in anyway make you ugly.
In my opinion, self love and respect can help you achieve anything and everything. So starting tomorrow, look at yourself in the mirror and list the number of things and reasons that make you beautiful. Do this and reduce your junk food habit, thrown in some exercise, and I guarantee you that with time you will feel beautiful just like you should.
Ive also heard of people loosing quite a bit of weight by mantaining a protein diet, and avoiding all sugars.

Fresh fruit (it's low in sodium --helps reduce the chance of gaining water weight.)
-fruit salads, bowl of fruits, or add fruit to a breakfast cereal!
Fresh vegetables (good source of dietary fiber-- extra energy to excerise!)
Rice
Low-fat Yogurt
Beverages:
Fruit juices are good
water and lemon water too.
Drink your "8 glasses of water" a day
Water makes your metabolism burn calories 3% faster.
Healthy snacks:
-pretzels (watch the sodium content though)
-low fat graham crackers
-low fat cookies, pudding, a couple of pieces of licorice
Look for
-fresh natural food
-nutritionally dense
-high in fiber
-low in calories
-low in fat
-low in refined sugars
-low in sodium
But yes, always get some junk food and snack on it once in a while. Because if you don't..then you may give in to a binge if you keep away from it
Don't skip meals. It may actually cause you to gain weight.

Mackenzie answered Sunday January 8 2006, 6:26 pm: You don't neccessarily have to give up all of your favorite foods. You just have to eat appropriate sized servings in moderation. That being said, you also need to establish some selfcontrol. Just take it easy on all of the extremely unhealthy foods, such as cake products, white bread [substitute it with wheat], soda, ice cream, and chips. Yes, these foods may be delicious, but they're not suitable for every day consumption. And they're most certainly not the key to weight loss. Cut back on [if not eliminate them all together], for two weeks. Challenge yourself. Prove to yourself that you CAN do this. So, accomplish a two week stand off with the sugar, and then go celebrate one night with an ice cream sundae - just keep it at an acceptable size! It's okay to treat yourself, that's exactly what you need; a system. Let this be your plan of attack!! You CAN do this.
But as you probably already know, it's best to eat several small portions a day; but this does not mean to "starve" yourself. Say, have an apple and a piece of cheese, two hours later have a few crakers, and an hour later have one piece of wheat toast, and so on and so forth, ya know??? And those are just some snack ideas. When it comes to solid meals, you don't really have to cut out much. Just take in moderation. Little intakes of food like that gives your body time to digest it properly. You see how that's better than eating one or two huge meals a day?? Because then it would take too long to catch up, and your body will not be able to burn the calories quickly enough; so it just quits, adding body fat.
Of course you must realize that weight loss takes time. I can't really say how long it will take; I suppose that differs from person to person. It really just depends on how much weight you're looking to shed. I'd say you could lose 10 to 20 pounds within the first month; that's very possible [seeing as how a good portion of that 10-20 pounds will be water weight].
You just have to stay committed, and strive to keep up the drive. Some tips: just try to keep yourself busy, and sleep as often as possible. Those things keep your mind off of food.
Sure it seems like you're giving up so much, but think about what you will be gaining if you feel better about yourself! That's the best damned grand prize you'll ever find! (=
And important thing to remember is that diet and exercise go hand-in-hand. Both are equally important, and you will most certainly not see the results you would if you do both of them, over one of them.
But I see you're talking about your ad lounger, and that's a great start. So, as far as an exercise routine goes, a few good activities that can simply assist in porportioning the body in it's entirety would be anything that gets the blood circulation goin', such as: jogging, jumping jacks, jumping rope, walking, and bicycle riding. Another thing, if you have access to a heated pool, water aerobics work like a charm!!
Also, I've never done yoga or pilates, personally, but people swear by them. So, I think that's worth a shot. If you're interested in that, check out:

And here is something I'm sure will spark your interest. This website has a list activities, and the numerical amount of calories they will burn:

The thing to remember is that losing weight and then maintaining a steady weight takes time and effort. You just have to stay committed, and strive to keep up the drive. It's all in the mind, it really is! (= [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
