Accept reality.
The reality is you ARE going to hurt him. You betrayed him and lied to him, that hurts.
The reality is you cannot have both of them.
Make up your mind. If you want to be with your boyfriend and you can be loyal to him, then apologize and beg him to stay with you. If you want to fool around with the other guy, accept that that will probably mean you relationship is over.
Just tell him honestly and give him the complete truth.

Just tell him that you are cheating on him. I think that should be enough for him to break it off with you.

How dare you cheat on your boyfriend, and then feel bad about it. If you feel bad about it, why do it!? Big contradiction right there.

You really like this other guy? Then break up with your boyfriend. Simple as that. Do not say you love your boyfriend if you are cheating on him. You don't want to hurt him? Then stop cheating on him. If the only reason you are still with him is because you do not want to break up with him, then you need to cut the crap and just end it.
However true all that is, you did asked how to break it to him. If you still want to be with your boyfriend, break it off with this other guy. And I mean for good. No communication whatsoever. That way when you tell your boyfriend about what you did, you can say that it is over with the other one and you want to be with him 100%. Do not expect him to take this lightly though. What you are doing is not fair, for either boy. So I suggest you figure out what you want before it ends up getting worse than it already is.

congratulations you are now the worst kind of person. anyways if you love him just tell him the truth and that he deserves better. it will never be the same between you two again so don't even consider satying with him or getting back with him after. if you care about him don't start dating anyone else for at least a little while. the longer the better.
