First run virus scans with a few programs as not all programs find all virus's. If the virus scans can't get rid of it go to a search engine like Google.com and search for the name of the virus or 'aim virus' or something like that and see if there are any websites with tutorials to getting rid of the virus. There might be one somewhere which tells you what to delete from your system registry. Or go into your task manager (or even better, download Process Explorer) and end anything which looks suspicious. If you use Process Explorer you can suspend the process and go on it's properties and get the file path to it therefore you can go there and delete it from your hard drive. If you can find out the files to do with the virus and where they are on the hard drive you can go into the system registry and delete the files. Be careful you don't delete anything important though!

Well, virus scans are useless. Reformatting your hard drive is a long and boring process. Go to Start --> Run, and type in msconfig
then go to startup and those are all the things that start when your computer starts. If its's a random jumble of letters and/or numbers, its probibly a virus. If you don't know what one is, type it into google and it should bring up a result that says what it is. Uncheck all the bad processes, press apply, and restart the computer. If the virus is still there, you know you didn't uncheck the right one.

Well, first step is running a virus scan. If it finds the virus, hopefully you can delete it, if you can, try running AIM, and hopefully the virus will be gone. If that doesn't work, try completely uninstalling and deleting the AIM program from your hard drive. Run another virus scan, then redownload and install. Run another scan and then try AIM to see if the virus is gone. If it's still there, you only have one choice that I know of to get rid of this virus.
If it's worth it to you, you'll have to format your hard drive. What this means, is you will be completely clearing all of your memory and pretty much starting back with a blank, clean system. If you know how to do this, then I'm sure you already know this and know all about what it does; if you don't know how to do this, you'll have to ask somebody, preferably somebody who has done it before many times and knows very well what they're doing.

You have to get rid of the virus before making any new screen names; they'll just get infected too. I don't know how an AIM virus works but most can spread to other parts of your computer as well. Run a virus scan on your computer to get the virus off. It might have to delete your AIM to get rid of the virus. But all you have to do is re download it so it doesn't matter. Good luck with that and when someone sends you a link on AIM telling you to click it, don't.
