How do I fix a key that sticks?

Question Posted Tuesday November 29 2005, 7:19 pm

My "c" key on my keyboard always sticks. It's so annoying!! I'm on a laptop. It is okay to try to take the key off or will I break it?

Okay, but it's not a normal keyboard. It's on a laptop so I'm not sure if I can pull it off, you know? It looks pretty attached to me, so that's why I'm hesitant....

take the keyboard to a store<best buys>circut city or good guys. they usually can help. i like best buys <i dont know if there is one near you but they have the geek squad that can help ya. but the all time best thing to use is a little rubbing alcohol on a qtip or cotton dab it on it may just be oil on the keys or crumbs if you eat near the computer. it also works on a mouse that wont roll good just wipe it on the ball on the mouse. hope i helped

The same EXACT thing used to happen to me. Same key and all, that's funny. Yeah, pulling it off isn't a good idea. What I did when it stuck was I would sit there and press it a whole bunch of times over and over and not gently. It was more out of frustration than anything, but afterwords it would stop sticking for awhile. You can't really clean it that easily and that's not the problem. I would say to move your finger around it while pressing it down to loosen it up. Pull up on it a little and shake it around. Pressing it a bunch of times should help too. Basically just mess with it to loosen it up and it'll go away eventually. I hope I helped and good luck!

I wouldn't suggest trying to pull the key off the keyboard - you might break it, since it's a laptop. You could try blowing on the key, or taking a q-tip and trying to clean it. ♥

You probally spilled something on it or it's just really dirty. Try using a qtip to clean it out.
