for the try outs i have to run 6 laps around the track under 12 minutes [plus some other things but thats the hardest]. this is going to kill me! im not good at distance running. i do sprints. what if i dont make it? i live for track! is there any way i can get faster? i trying out with one of my best friends. we are the only ones trying out tomorrow becasue everyone else already did. i'm so nervous.
what can i do today till tomorrow at 3:30 to make me do better?
what are some tips for when im running?
anything you want to tell me!

Tips
Dont take big breaths- this freezes your throat kinda
Pace yourself-start out slower then get faster towards the end of the 12-20min if you can!
If you start feeling sick, stop! your not gonna get better by making yourself barf!
Just have fun!- if you dont think about the running while your running, you'll prob. do better [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

When I started field hockey in the fall I could HARDLY run 2 laps without fainting but by the end of the season I could run 8 laps with hardly any work at all. All you have to do is pace yourself, bring water, and don't over work yourself. If your friend is a good long distance runner than maybe she could help keep you motivated, but you cannot really change your skill level by tomorrow. Just try your best and over the season you'll improve :)
AGEHA answered Thursday November 17 2005, 7:55 pm: You aren't going to improve in one day. If you want to improve your stamina and speed, that takes months. Besides, it's 7th grade JV track & field. Not competitive enough to warrant this much concern. No matter how important it is, you don't have to make it out to be the olympics.

Good luck!

STRETCHES: butterfly stretch, hamstring stretch, and any one where you are stretching your legs...you should google stretches too... [ ankeagle14's advice column | Ask ankeagle14 A Question ]
