This is Jasmine. I am 24 and 5'4". My weight is 145lbs. I got married in Dec'04 and we had to stay apart for 5months and now we are together. I was 130lbs last summer, I am not sure if I gained this weight over a year or just in the last 6months. I am a Master's in Computer Science student and I am working on the computer for about 10hrs a day on an average. Rice is our staple food with different vegetables (fried or cooked). I am trying to walk 21/2 miles everyday, but haven't been very regular. My HDL cholestrol is very low and the doctor advised me to lose about 20pounds and I am feeling horrible myself. I would really appeciate anybody's suggestions to help me do this. Thank you so much for your help.
AskBritt answered Tuesday November 15 2005, 8:12 pm: Well do you drink sodas?
If you do I can tell you if you switch to just diet soda you can loose ten pounds. Just imagine what you could do if you stopped drinking sodas?
If that doesn't work...try to eat healthy. I know that sounds hard .Example: But instead of eating hamburgers eat a salad from somewhere and instead of getting a soda take a water. Go to subway. Uhh....eat a huge breakfest and a really small dinner. If you eat lunch medium sized...not too big but mot too small. And if you eat fast just try to eat slower so that your brain knows when your getting full. If you have a desert try not to eat it all maybe make a record of just trying to eat half or three quarters. Tip: Try not to eat greasy foods.
IF none of this works try to walk or run three miles every other day. Try to do 3 pound lift weights. Personaly I just do 20 push-ups, 20 crunches, and 40 sit-ups every noght before I go to bed.
Becka323 answered Tuesday November 15 2005, 5:14 pm: Start excercising more regularly. Watching what you eat can help you lose weight but to tone up and look how you'd like to its very important. I promise it will start feeling good if you get into a regular excercise routine! Try joining a gym and maybe doing some workout classes! [ Becka323's advice column | Ask Becka323 A Question ]
luckybutt32 answered Monday November 14 2005, 11:21 pm: ok hun i would suggest getting your thyroid checked. a thyroid disorder can cause unexplained weight gain and tiredness. i have that . also i would lay off the rice cause its a carb and carbs turn to fat if not burned. if you sit at the computer all day then you arent burning it. try cutting the breads and rice and eat veggies and meat and cheese. dont drink sodas. drink alotta water it will flush the fat out of your system. with that i wish you all the luck keep me posted and good luck

brokenagain answered Monday November 14 2005, 11:00 pm: ok first the fried foods are no good. Drink water and if you like soda make it diet. I lost 30 lbs in about 3 months. I stopped eating junk food,i went to a gym everyother day for about 1 hr and i switched to diet soda. You wanna stay away from breads and pastas-eat little if you have to. Depends on what kind of diet you are looking for. There is Atkins, weight watchers, or the old vegetarian eat no meat.Dont eat after 7pm-that is bad and it just sits in your stomach. try different things out see what helps you the most. Hope i could help and good luck [ brokenagain's advice column | Ask brokenagain A Question ]
