I have heard bad things about tampons but I want to try them anyway... what should I do?
Question Posted Sunday November 13 2005, 3:09 pm
I have use pads ever since I first got my period and I have never even thought about using a tampon. I think I want to try them, but I have heard very bad things about them. I heard they hurt when you put it in, and that they can give you diseases. I am really confused on what to do. Should i just stick to pads?

DizzyMizzLizzie8 answered Monday November 14 2005, 9:37 pm: When I first started my period these questions ran across my mind also, I suggest that you go to a doctor and ask them what kind would be best for you, TSS or Toxic Shock Syndrome is a diseas that women can get but is very rare and occurs when you leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours. If you are too worried about using tampons then maybe you should stick with pads, totally you choice though. lizzzz answered Sunday November 13 2005, 10:18 pm: naww. try tampons. trust me, they are a million times easier. it hurts the first couple times you take them out, but otherwise after that its fine. and you can get toxic shock syndrome if you keep one in too long.. but that's very rare. just remember this.. would they sell something on the market that would be really bad?? thanks xxo [ lizzzz's advice column | Ask lizzzz A Question ]
LOV3xALWAYSxADViCE answered Sunday November 13 2005, 9:07 pm: I think you should give tampons a try. I've never heard anything about diseases?? only if u leave them in way too long...& it's very rare. I think if you gave them a try you'd like them alot better than pads & they're actually more comfortable..you can't even feel them. Tampax is a really good brand. ThugGirl041790 answered Sunday November 13 2005, 7:33 pm: you can`t get diseases from tampons you can get TSS and thats from wearin a tampon to long.. don`t wear one over 8 hours..
Well there are small tampons..i wouldn`t suggest gettin a huge tampon unless you are a heavy bleeder.. But still stick with the small sized ones til you get use to it.. if you read the box and do what it says correctly then it shouldn`t hurt you at all..
If you decide you don`t like tampons then i`d go back to pads..
also on the side of the box it tells you what not to do so you don`t get TSS..don`t let that scare you cuz when i read it..it freaked me out but believe me tampons are much easier then pads and less messy.. ♥ DEz [ ThugGirl041790's advice column | Ask ThugGirl041790 A Question ]

confusedbabii answered Sunday November 13 2005, 6:29 pm: tampons cant give you diseases. you can get TSS (toxic shock syndrome)but that's only if you leave them in for too long.
if you use tampax pearl, they dont hurt at all.
and dont stick w/ pads because you'll need to use tampons eventually
hco_babe answered Sunday November 13 2005, 6:14 pm: if you like pads and there comfortable for you, just stick with them because that's the safe way to go. if you feel like there not though, then try tampons. read all the directions first on the box, and just don't leave it in for too long. peachsncream7643 answered Sunday November 13 2005, 5:23 pm: You don`t really have to worry about tampons. They don`t even hurt.A lot of people think different stuff about tampons. It`s really your choice if you want to use tampons or pads.I think tampons are better than pads. You cant get Toxic Shock Sydorme from tampons, but thats only if you leave them in for to long.Tampons are a lot less messier too. Also you don`t really feel like your wearing anything when you use a tampon unless the tampon is to big for you or you put it in wrong.♥ [ peachsncream7643's advice column | Ask peachsncream7643 A Question ]
xOHunni-helpin-yaOx answered Sunday November 13 2005, 5:22 pm: tampons are perfectly safe as long as you change them every 4-8 hours other wise you may develop TSS (toxic shock syndrome) tampons are sometimes awkward and painful to insert for the first time but after a few times you get the hang of it and become more comfortable [ xOHunni-helpin-yaOx's advice column | Ask xOHunni-helpin-yaOx A Question ]
fabulous11 answered Sunday November 13 2005, 5:05 pm: You dont have to use them but you might wanna just try. No they dont hurt when you put them in you just have to do it right. There should be instructions in the box if you dont know how. Yes you can get a disease calld TSS(i think). That is from leaving the tampon in to long but its nothing to worry about if you use them right. So with that said you can do whatever you want. hope I helped [ fabulous11's advice column | Ask fabulous11 A Question ]
Teza answered Sunday November 13 2005, 5:05 pm: Tampons are nothing to worry about. They don't hurt when you put them in but if you put it in wrong, it might. A lot of people are different so they have different views on them. You can't really get a disease from tampons, but you can get TSS ( Toxic Shock Syndorme ) That can only happen if you leave it in for way to long. Change them about every 3-4 hours. Pads can be alright, but tampons are better. You can do pretty much anything and they are comftrable too. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
karenR answered Sunday November 13 2005, 4:59 pm: They can lead to Toxic Shock Syndorme only if you put one in and forget its there. And yes, they have!
