My Mom........

Question Posted Saturday November 12 2005, 9:51 am

My mom went to the doctor to have a pap ( is that right?) scan or whatever and they found some bad cells. The doctor said it wasnt cancerous and that her appointment will be in early December. On the other hand my dad had fooled with a bunch or prostitutes and I am SOOO Imbarrased. My mom isnt sexually active and my mom is afraid that she could have Herpies, or warts, etc. But on the bright side it could be Menapause (sorry bout Sp.) Because she is 48 and she has been skipping periods. My mom and me lived with him because she didnt think you could generally catch it untill she looked it up on the internet. She is Soo afraid that she has lost 5lbs in 1 week! Please help ASAP!

I have worked in a doctors office. Abnormal pap smears are not unusual.

If her doctor thought it was something that needed immediate attention he would have had her come back in immediatley. If it were a STD the doctor would have told her about it. :)

ok let me start off by saying a pap smear detected whatever it is she has. I have had many of these and i am only 27. I have had abnormal cells and it is ok they will do a cryosurgery which will freeze the abnormal cells.and they will be gone) she will have foloow ups witht he doctor to make sure its ok--i have never had a problem with these and i have had 2 of them. Beings she is 48 it may well be menopause-she is fine and let her know that if she had herpes or warts the doctor would have told her and would have seen this when he did the pap smear--beings she has abnormal cells it could be why she is skipping her periods also--i have had that before b/c of the abnornmal cells. once thise process is done her periods may be off or she may hit menopause--its a process to get it back to normal i am on my second yr now and my periods are finally getting back to normal--i also have endometritis which is the thining of the liner in the uterus. So i have pain in my ovaries when its ovulation time. I hope i could help need anything else let me know keep me posted on your mom let me know how she is
