first, you shouldn't go out with someone if you don't know for sure if you like him or not.
if you just go out with him when you're not sure, then you might end up not liking him, and then you'll have to brake up with him anyway.
so just go out with him once you decide if you like him or not for sure.
but it shouldnt even matter if he's ugly or not. what you should care about most is how nice and funny he is and that kinda stuff.
because someone ugly but nice is better than someone hotttt but really mean.
so ya, just stay friends with him until you know for sure if you like him or not.

Ah, I've been in your position before. I wasn't sure if I liked someone but I only thought that because I really liked him personality. The thing is, you really need to get to kno him better. Picture you being with him. Like boyfriend and girlfriend. How would you feel about him and that whole situation. Just ask yourself questions and question your feelings. Talk to him more and get to know him. Just because he doesn't look gorgeous, doesn't mean that his personality and his other qualities aren't good. Ask him to hang out, flirt with him. Sort of ugly sort of cute? That's not very nice =o At least you could have said he's not that cute... like people said, personality matters more than looks.
anyway, you should figure out if you like him or not. that's the first thing. Do you feel any signs of love when you see him, talk to him, etc? If not, then you probably dont like him. Just because someone likes you doesn't mean you're obligated to like him back.
