mom and drug problem.

Question Posted Sunday November 6 2005, 10:28 pm

My sister (28) and I(15)are sending my mom into Rehabilitation/Detoxification (Rehab/Detox) for about 10 days. My mom has many severe addictions to many, many different drugs..and my sis says she's going to be in probably the worst pain for a couple days in her entire life. She said that once my mom tried getting off her drugs and has diarahhea that was pure blood. My sis says its going to be way worse when she goes into rehab and that my mother is going to be in so much pain that she doesnt want to see me and my sister because she dooesnt want us to see her in such bad condition. So i guess my question is..what can I do to make myself feel better about the pain that my mom is going to be put through? It hurts me too..how do i deal with this? Thanks<33

Just have this in your mind (when she comes out of the rehab/detox center that she won't be addicted to those drugs anymore, she will be healthier, a few days of pain will be worth it when she is isn't addicted to those drugs anymore. BELIEVE ME. I know exactly how you are feeling. My late mother used to go into those places all the time. She became better over a period time.. Have faith, pray for her and be optimistic. P.S. BE STRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey ok well all you have to do is just think after those 10 days are up she'll be improving and all you have to think about is how much better she will be so you dont have to worry about anything. Just say a prayer or something at night and shell be just fine. Hope this makes you feel a little better

ok, always remember that her problem is not your fault. her problems shouldnt be affecting you, the only reason that they do at this point is because you love her very very much and you hate to see a loved one like this. keep saying to yourself that she will be ok and keep things positive.
always,

Actually she probably isn't allowed visitors for awhile.

She has to put all her concentration on getting off the drugs. It is very tough. The people taking care of her are professionals and will take excellent care of her.

The bright side is this. She will be a much better mom to you when its over. She will be a much healthier person.

You won't have to worry about coming home to a mom who had OD'd. Life is going to get better. The pain for her will be worth it when its over.
Hopefully she will come out a much happier person.

All those things would be worth the pain to any mom. And hopefully something to remember next time she gets the urge to take something she shouldn't.

I hope everything works out for your family. Good luck to your mom, she is being very brave. :)
