People that do piercings are not exactly professionals. There's still the same chance of it getting infected and the so called professionals can mess it up sometimes too. They do sell kits that have all the supplies and instructions you need to do piercings yourself. If you do it yourself without one of these kits, it may hurt a lot more. Make sure that you sterilize the needle you're using. The best way to do this is to buy something that is used to sterilize earrings, prevent piercing infections, and/or treat piercing infections. You'll probably want it later on anyways. When you perform the piercing, get a washable marker and make a dot where you want the needle (or special "piercing earring") to go. Have ice ready for right after you do it. Make sure the earring is all the way in before you use the ice though. It may bleed a lot so be prepared for that too. If you're doing this without your parents knowing you should tell them about it, they're going to find out anyways and you could save yourself a lot of greif. Good luck! VainTaraLynn answered Sunday November 6 2005, 9:53 pm: Well. Basically. You can either numb it and shove a needle through, or you can just shove a needle though. Theres no exact way to piece your cartilage, because theres no nerve endings that you would damange, and no veins that you would bleed to death from hitting. So basically, just stick a needle through your ear. Make sure you sterilize it, and put a gold earring through it, to minimize the chances of getting an infection. Even people who have it professionally pierced still get infections so really theres no right or wrong way, make sure you clean it daily with alcohol or peroxide and a Q tip though, to also lessen the chances of possible infection. bUtTeRfLiEs answered Sunday November 6 2005, 7:58 pm: Honestly, I don't reccommend doing it yourself. I was told by someone who works at a piercing/tattoo parlor, that if you do it yourself, you can possibly hit the wrong nerve and your entire face/ear will go numb. But anyways here's your answer:
Clean an earring or needle (whichever your prefer, earring is easier though) with some alcohol. Pinch your ear really hard and wherever you see white spots, that's where nerves are. Do not pierce anywhere near them, I REPEAT DO NOT PIERCE ANYWHERE NEAR THEM. Then you numb it with some ice or whatever then just stick the earring through really fast & you should hear skin breaking and then you're done! Voila.

The people when i got it done told me that if you pierce it wrong it can go through a vein in your ear and kill you so i would definitly get it professionly done. PLus it hurts like crazy i have my belly button done n it didnt hurt as bad as that
Xo_Blondii_oX answered Sunday November 6 2005, 7:37 pm: Well first of all you get a sewing pin and burn it that way its like steralized. Then you numb ear with a piece of ice and stick the pin through. A little Tip : It hurts like crrrazy and more then likely it will get infected if you dont take proper care of it and its gonna hurt and burn im not sure why but it does. I kno this because i once did my cartlidge too and it got infected and believe me its a b*tch to take out when its infected. Your best bet would be to get it professionaly done.Good luck!
hco_babe answered Sunday November 6 2005, 7:13 pm: ok since you dont want to get it professionally done here's what you can do...
first get a big safety pin and put a lighter to it until it gets too hot to hold. (or put over the stove) this makes it clean. put both the earring and the back of the earring in antibacterial or ear cleaner. numb your ear with ice, and push the saftey pin through. wait about 7-10 minutes then take it out, then put in the earring. i know from experience people who have tried this and their ears have come out fine.
