But not usually. Just don't leave a tampon in for too long. And She was just talking about..well if you have ever heard the expression "popped the cherry" it's not anything bad. The first time you use a tampon this will happen. you just bleed a little bit more for a day or so. Nothing bad happened. it happens to every girl so chill out. It's alright. just talk to your mom and let her no that you like tampons better and hopefully she'll understand.! Teza answered Tuesday October 25 2005, 7:42 pm: Toxic shock syndrom (TSS) is caused is the tampon is left in for too long, and if it isn't changed every few hours. It's rare you will get it. Your vagina will not brake but if you put the tampon in too high up, your hymen might break which is nothing to worry about because it happens to all girls. Don't be freaked out though. You'll be fine. Make sure you change your tampon every 2-3 hours. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
xXxpinky615xXx answered Tuesday October 25 2005, 7:09 pm: The whole "toxic shock syndrom" I have no clue what the hell she is talking about. The thing in your vagina that might have "broke" is your hymen. Which is just a thin layer of skin inside the vagina. Which, by the way, can break just about at any time.. Riding a horse, sitting down, standing up, getting your first period, falling.. Anything. Most people refer to it as having your "cherry popped".
allknowing_123 answered Tuesday October 25 2005, 6:49 pm: your vagina will not break! i had the same prob. i was so totally afraid but you just gotta do it. its not gunna hrt or feel awkward. and if i would have known tht when i started i would have never chosen pads in the first place.

angelfire2708 answered Tuesday October 25 2005, 6:39 pm: Women have been using tampons for years. Every girl i know uses them instead of pads. Toxic shock syndrom is bacteria that can form on the tampon IF left in for a long period of time. Just use 1 with the absorbency needed for your periods. On your heaviest days use a higher 1 on your light days use 1 that is lower. You can wear a tampon for up to 8 hrs. Depending on how heavy your period is, youll have to change it more often.
Your mom is talking about your "hymen". Alot of people think you can break your hymen by using tampons. If you read the instructions, it will tell you that it doesnt affect your virginity: meaning your hymen is large enough for the tampon to slip through. Its nothing to worry about. Tampons are safe if used properly. In my opinion, theyre the only way to go! [ angelfire2708's advice column | Ask angelfire2708 A Question ]
helpachick answered Tuesday October 25 2005, 6:31 pm: hey! you'll only get toxic shock syndrom if you wear tampons ALL THE TIME and dont change them every few hours (just like you would a pad) also DONT sleep in them, because that is keeping the same tampon in too long and that's what causes this disease. if you always remember to change them, than use them if thats what you like!
hope this helped xoxohelpachick [ helpachick's advice column | Ask helpachick A Question ]
