It's a normal part of development, and as you get older, guys will find your curves sexy. Skinny just isn't sexy. Kate Moss has no curves, and isn't sexy. She only appeals to girls who mistakenly believe that Kate is the standard to which they must strive. Kate has the body of a twelve year old boy. It's gross.
As far as eating goes, if you are eating healthy foods, then you aren't failing. If you're eating junk food, or large portions, or drinking lots of sugary soda, then you might want to rethink your dietary choices.

You are only 13 and you are far from overweight. Being really thin isn't a good thing. You are a very healthy size. Love who you are and accept yourself. You're not a failure, you're just you! Your body is maturing a little faster than your friends that's all. Hang in there and feel better about yourself. You can always tone your body out by exercising, so if you feel like you need to do something this is the best option for you. Remember not to overdo it though. You're healthy, don't make yourself unhealthy trying to live up to an image that isn't you. You're great just the way you are...everyone you ask will tell you so. Good luck! <3 [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
myles_girl13 answered Monday October 24 2005, 11:34 pm: well. if you feel like you need to loose weight then maybe you should cut down on the carbs and the sweets. exercise is good too. but don't let it get to the unhealthy stage where you loose too much weight and form an eating disorder. but if you feel like it gets to the point where you are feeling really insecure about yourself...maybe you should go talk to your school counselor. i'm sure he/she can give you some good tips. but trust me...you aren't fat. MikeDaBoobNinja answered Monday October 24 2005, 10:17 pm: Breakdancing will work every muscle in your body because of the awesome-ness of it. If you only feel like a failure when your full, then eat Chinese Food, you know you'll be hungry again in 15 minutes anyway! And they're always so friendly at the Chinese stores. But don't turn anarexic or stuff...then I'll feel bad for suggesting the 'chinese food and breakdancing' approach.

What you need to do is just work out. Maybe run a few laps everyday after school. The sudden weight gain may just be your imagination, or it may be because of stress about school, family issues, etc...just don't go into a eating disorder. Those are the WORST.
Just try to exercise and get fresh air. It'll help you in the long run for more than just weight. =)
