1. just walk into a business, and ask to see the manager or supervisor, then introduce yourself and ask if it is possible for you to work there as a volunteer or as a service worker

2.no, you prolly wont get the same discounts. employees get discounts because they are on the payroll and receive a paycheck every other friday. you on the other hand, receive a signature on a community service card and a pat on the back.

3. community service is just people doing services for free to make their community a better place. something as simple as picking up trash in a local park or trimming overgrown weeds on the side of a street to make it look nicer can be counted as community service, but what youre looking at is something a little more in depth. you might want to try a real estate office.. you could work filing and making copies.

hope i helped. good luck!! <3 steff

1. Start out be calling around at places you would be interested helping out at. Ask if they need any volunteers right now. Also check your yellow pages and see if any charity organizations need any help. Your school or your parents' work might be able to help you find volunteer work.

2. Volunteers don't get discounts, benefits, or anything else. While there are some exceptions, you really shouldn't expect anything. One exception might be Habitat for Humanity, which often gets free breakfast or lunch donated from local restaurants and chains. If you work for a small place, you might get free food. However, the reward of volunteer work is the knowledge that you are serving your community.

3. Community service works different depending on where you volunteer. If you volunteer at a humane society, you might be cleaning cages and walking dogs. I volunteered at a small private school as a daycare assistant, so I played with small children.

Since you are a sophmore (in high school?), community service is great for you. Be sure to get a time sheet so that you can log your hours, and get it signed regularly by the person who is in charge of your work. That way, you have the hours to put on your college and scholarship applications, along with the proof of those hours. If the place where you volunteer does not supply a time sheet, you could make and print one yourself in a word processor or by hand.

Community service is an unpaid service done for the benefit of the public. You should not expect to get anything out of it, but a warm happy feeling inside haha. But seriously, I love doing community service and I hope you end up feeling the same way. Probably instead of going around and working an actual job for free, it would be better to get involved in an organization specializing in community service. Your school probably has a community service based club and programs such as girl scouts or boy scouts, 4-H, or even the Legion have great opportunities for community service. You could even go out on your own and help out at a nursing home or something. Talk to your guidence counselor and I'm sure that they will have tons of options in community service that you can choose from. Even though you probably could get community service hours from a store, that kind of job is something that you should get paid for and it'll probably make you mad that you don't. Good luck!

To go about doing community service, first choose something you're interested in. Like I want to be a doctor, so I'd check with the local hospital. Call em up and they can give you some info. As for the discounts and stuff, probably not, lol. First of all, most places that offer stuff like that you wouldn't be volunteering for anyway. Community service doesn't work like it used to. It's kind of optional because the required stuff is encouperated into class so you're covered just by doing what you're supposed to in class. As far as getting credit for what you do do, they should give you like a letter or something so you have some proof but like I said, it's no longer required for gradutation, at least not where I live. Hope this helps and good luck :)
