songs that relate to the holocaust

Question Posted Wednesday October 19 2005, 3:27 pm

Some friends and I are in a group project and it's on the holocaust. We're making a movie, but we wanted a song that would really show the sadness of the holocaust, or that would in some way relate to the holocaust, to play in the background of the movie.

If you get what I mean and know any sad songs that relate to the holocaust, or just any songs that relate, PLEASE answer. We're editing the movie now, and it's due friday, so if you can PLEASE help!! Thanks!

I search [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and came up with a couple links I thought you should take a look at:
- [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
- [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
- [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
- [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

If you surf around a little bit, it will provide you with many songs; all relating to the Holocaust. Also, some sites offer free 30 second audio clips, so don't miss those!

Some other links that might be helpful to you, would be:

Anyhow, best of luck on your movie! (:

Hi there,

There is a really touching poem that I read a few weeks back relating to the holocaust.....
Don't know whether it will help you but it's this............

Frozen Jews
By Avrom Sutzkever
July 10, 1944

Have you seen, in fields of snow, frozen Jews, row on row? Blue marble forms lying, not breathing, not dying.

Somewhere a flicker of a frozen soul - glint of fish in an icy swell. All brood. Speech and silence are one. Night snow encases the sun.

A smile glows immobile from a rose lip's chill. Baby and mother, side by side. Odd that her nipple's dried. Just as her baby has died.

Fist, fixed in ice, of a naked old man: the power's undone in his hand. I've sampled death in all guises. Nothing surprises.

Yet a frost in July in this heat - a crazy assault in the street. I and blue carrion, face to face. Frozen Jews in a snowy space.

Marble shrouds my skin. Words ebb. Light grows thin. I'm frozen, I'm rooted in place like the naked old man enfeebled by ice.

They are quite versatile words and could easily be put into song form. As they rhyme you could even rap them

Hope this helps and hope you get a good mark.

Well, this song isn't sad, but I think it relates a bit. "We Are All Made of Stars" by Moby is good. The lyrics are here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) 18 We Are All Made Of Stars

A sad song is "We Believe" by Good Charlotte. The beginning is: "There's a woman crying out tonight/her world has changed/she asked God why/Her only son has died/and now her daughter cries/she can't sleep at night."

If you want to do something about the end of the Holocaust, a good song would be "Ray of Light" by Madonna.

I hope I helped, and if you have any more questions, feel free to leave one in my inbox!

Go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and scroll down to where the S songs are. There is one called "Starman's Theme". You might not have the same reaction that I had, but I'm pretty sure it's from this very scary video game I once played. There was a crib, and blood on the walls, and when you walked into the room there was crying and that song (or one like it) was playing. So I get a very sad, morbid feeling when I listen to it. It sort of sounds like ghosts...maybe it would be a bit too creepy, maybe it would be just right.

Also, 99 Luftballoons is a German song by Nena. Even though it has a catchy beat, it's actually about, I think, a soldier who fired on some harmless balloons thinking they were missiles and ended up causing the end of the world. That might to be hard to find, though.
