I actually never knew there was a name for it- knowing that your dreaming. because every dream i have, i always know i'm dreaming, i can control what i'm doing, and can wake my self up if i want to. it's really weird and I really don't think there's a particular thing that makes you lucid dream, to me it's just naturally i guess. Maybe you should try thinking about whatever you want to dream right before you fall asleep? I really don't know. :(

I had a dream diary about 2 years ago that had information on lucid dreaming. its just something that takes practice. attempt to break into your dreams again and again and eventually you will suceed. like during your dream, stop and say to yourself, hey im dreaming. pinch yourself, hit yourself, do something to show control over your body and emotions. it takes practice.

I'm taking psychology, and the best way to remember your dreams is keep a pen and paper by your bed and as soon as you wake up, write down what you remember. But, this isn't gauranteed, it's just the best way. If you can, remember anything said specifically, people in the dream and surroundings. I hope I helped!

I used to be able to do this really well, but it's declined as I've gotten older. The way I used to do it was by making sure I was in a very shallow sleep. The deeper a sleep you're in, the less the chance you'll be able to remember/control the dreams you have. Once you begin having a dream, you must realize it's a dream. That's probably the hardest part. It takes a lot of tries. The best way I found to do it was by doing something you couldn't do in normal life (breathing under water, falling off a tall building, whatever is in you dream, just get creative!). One you've attained these two steps, you're pretty much set to go. Like I said before, it takes a lot of practice, and repetition is the best way accomplish it. Different things work for different people as well, so experiment.
