Who Are/What Is Your Favorite Musician Or Group.

Question Posted Sunday October 16 2005, 8:37 pm

I need more than one sentence answers. If you give detailed advice on this and reasons why you chose the groups/musicians you will get a 5 out of me. I am generous but expect when I ask advice, as I give detailed ones to you usually as GDROB to get the same back.

I am producing a new radio show with movie reviews, games, trivia, etc. for teens we have chat and forums too, special guests. My biggest problem is choosing music for in between the segments. I wanted some suggestions on acts or solo performers you guys are into. I am trying to develop a playlist really and need guidance.

Also, please understand the music has to be good but squeaky clean. The rules state I cannot have swearing, violence against women, right-winged ideas etc. on the show or I am in trouble. If there are poets, spoken word or actual artists among you send me a note.

BTW, this is not to provoke the ire of the admin. I am not advertising but merely seeking guidance from teens here who know this stuff.

Additional info, added Monday October 17 2005, 8:32 pm:

The debut show is now up at www.teentalknetwork.com drop down menu Reel Talk. Write me a note to tell me what you think reeltalk@teentalknetwork.com Incidentally, I am not advertising here but Tommy The Clown from Rize is on next week. If you still have music suggestions keep adding them here. If you want like someone suggested to send poems or songs use the e-mail.

Thanks again all of this has been helpful in choosing what music to mix with the show. Keep ideas coming and I'll keep helping here on the boards. The first show is about film history and then the new stuff to avoid on video.

I am doing a horror movie show for next week if you have a list of movies that are faves let me know. This is also a note to horror fans with Cinemax. October 31 from 5 a.m. til midnight there is a horror movie marathon.

What you will need to do to tape it is get a VCR not in use and several T160s they are 8 hours long each. Thought I would mention this if you did not have TIVO or a digital on demand box that records.

Bjork-She is amazing, her music is always different and awesome. Every album she releases has something new and fresh to offer. Some great songs of hers that I guess you can listen to so you know what she sounds like are "I Miss You", "There's More to Life Than This", "Triumph of the Heart", and "Frosti".

Pixies-Well, they aren't my favorite, but they definetly have some great songs here and there. My favorite song from them is "Vamos". The guitar rifts and just everything of that song blows my mind away everytime I hear it.

The Aquabats- It's a Superhero Band. Close to enough said, but I'll explain more. These guys are crazy and awesome, not so much with their latest album, but they have created these wacky songs that makes you wonder if Aquabanian is really on our planet. Some of their greatest songs, hands down, "Lobster Bucket," "Super Rad", "Tiger Rider vs. The Time Sprinkler!", "Radiation Song", and of course "Pool Party".

I hope that this helps you out.

One of my favorite bands right now is Fall Out Boy. They're kind of a punk rock and their songs are really good. They make you think and their songs have meanings and morals. One of their songs is Sugar We're Going Down, where they talk about how all the stereotypes in high school are boring.

I really like The Click 5 too. They are considered by many as the next beatles. None of their songs swear (( the worst word they say is hell )) and they are a pop rock band. Their hit song is Just The Girl, where they sing a story about how nom matter how horrible this girl treats them she's the only girl they want.

Some contests could be win an autographed ____ or win a free lunch. I don't know things like that. I'm guessing you dont have enough money to go on free trips or concerts, or back stage passes. But maybe a free DVD or CD.

Hope I Helped.... music is my life so if yu want any help with songs e-mail me

I also write songs so if you want anything particular....

Anything by greenday should be fine, they talk about the world around them and stuff like that,"Wake Me Up When September Ends" is a favorite of mine. Or "American Idiot" it has one cuss word but there is a clean version.

I really like Butch Walker. Google for him and you'll find a lot of stuff. He writes music for people like Avril ect but is a decent solo writer.

What a lot of teens are listening to can be found on the One Tree Hill/the OC soundtracks. They have some amazing emerging artists and you couldn't go wrong.

I'd also like to recommend the automatic mixtape generator, which has a bunch of mixtapes for completely random things like "Songs for Flipping Pancakes" ect. You can find it here:[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

You can either look over the songs or request they make you a mixtape.

I wish I could help more, but most of my music isn't that clean or it's old. Oh, but check out The Postal Service or The Shins. They have some clean songs that are good.

Good luck and I wish I could help more.
