my friend is looking to buy a "riddell" protective padding piece for football. it is in the shape of a cresent moon.. what is it for?

Well, the earpiece in the helmets are in that shape. But I could also see how a cup is kind of shaped like that. It's probably one of those two.

but it might be for the shoulders, but probably for the penis, because penis and football dont make good matches.
