For frizz I use garnier fructis smoothing milk and it works really well! [ EmmyGurl's advice column | Ask EmmyGurl A Question ]

One of my girlfriends turned me onto this but there's something called the Super Skinny Serum by Paul Mitchell. It should be at a beauty place near you but if you don't have a specialty store around you, just get one at a salon. It's probably the cheapest most effective thing I've used so far. It's $16 at retailers and 20 at salons but worth it and you don't even need a straightener. All you do is hop out of the shower, brush it through, whip the serum in there, and you're done. It also dries your hair in 5 minutes! That's good stuff :) [ Juicygirl's advice column | Ask Juicygirl A Question ]

Lizzybeth127 answered Wednesday October 12 2005, 3:54 pm: i have super curly hair too... its horrible and thick and icky and i hate it... just recently i started straightening my hair too... but yeah i have the same problem with you it ends up puffying... i found these awesome products which help a lot and their not that expenisve... i use Fruteis (that green bottle stuff) shiney wavey, its a small round bottle and green it curls your hair and it doesnt get puffy... i also use this other stuff called ION(white and pink bottle) which protects your hair from ironing it or any heat sources but it keeps the frizz in which is rele good when u use a blow dryer... i guess you can try either of the two products...
xomegaroni answered Wednesday October 12 2005, 3:17 pm: i have curly hair too & i learned one thing from having curly hair..you can't work against your hair, you have to work with it. straightening will damage it & it juss won't come out right, so to make your hair look good, you have to work with it. what i do is i take a shower in the morning & towel dry it pretty good so that it's wet, but not dripping wet. then i take moose & scrunch it in my hair. i use tresseme er however you spell it. it works really well & it comes into a black bottle that you can get at groceries stores er walmart, kmart, etc. then i juss let it go. it scrunches & dries but since it's scrunched w/ moose, it doesn't poof.
GANGStAhBAbiiEx answered Wednesday October 12 2005, 2:59 pm: well you can take a shower and put like gel in it or baby oil something like that put some when its still wet and when it drys so like it didnt drip out with all the water in your hair.
despite_the_radio answered Wednesday October 12 2005, 2:39 pm: I have naturally curly hair myself. You don't have to straighten it! You can wear it curly and it can look beautiful, if you know what to do with it.
Since your hair is curly, I'm going to guess that it's also at least a little dry. You'll want to make sure you're using a shampoo for dry hair, and also a conditioner. It helps to deep condition your hair once a week to tame frizzies.
When you get out of the shower, towel dry it just enough to make it stop dripping. DO NOT BRUSH/COMB. Just use your fingers. If your hair is too tangled to do this, try a detangler like Johnson & Johnson's No More Tears.
Next, add a curl cream, like Clinique's Perfect Curl; anything works though, as long as it's a curl cream. You can find them at Wal-Mart.
Then, add some sort of a hardening product like mousse or gel. Scrunch it into your hair, and twirl your hair around your fingers to make curls.
Spray it down with a little bit of hairspray and let it air dry. You should have perfect curls/waves.
Hope this helps. [ despite_the_radio's advice column | Ask despite_the_radio A Question ]
