How far can you drive a car after the empty light comes on? I have a rental car that I am not suppose to refule. I have 1/8 of a tank and have 40+ miles to go today.

You might want to call the rental company and explain your situation. It might be best just to buy maybe a half tank of gas just so you don't get stranded somewhere. Easy rates. You'll barely make it, but will make it. [ sbloemeke's advice column | Ask sbloemeke A Question ]

Generally this is because they have their own holding tanks and it's cheaper for them to use their own gasoline and you're already being charged for the refueling in you're rental fee.
