imanaligator answered Thursday September 29 2005, 4:16 pm: I broke mine when i was about 12 with a tampon, however, many girls 'accidentaly' break thiers(horseback riding for example), or infact are born with only a partial covering or no hymen at all. Tampons make life easier, in my opinion, especially if you have a heavy flow, but just make sure you are relaxed when you try them the first time, it can be an uncomfortable sensation at first. It can easily break by sitting down, standing up, getting your first period, riding a horse, riding a bike, running... Just about ANYTHING could contribute to tearing your hymen.
Silly_Love_Song answered Thursday September 29 2005, 3:38 pm: No, that's a load of crap. An urban legend made up by someone who had nothing better to do. A tampon does nothing but block the blood flow from your period, I promise.

AskAndy answered Thursday September 29 2005, 3:36 pm: Depends how thick it is and how tight you are. The first time you put one on it might be uncomfortable because your hymen will strech, but there might be a possibility its broken already. I would just go for it and find out!
Good luck! [ AskAndy's advice column | Ask AskAndy A Question ]
