You could break your hymen in more ways then just using a tampon. In my opinion, they are more comfortable, they make you feel cleaner, and more convenient. That's a personal choice though.

I broke mine when i was about 12 with a tampon, however, many girls 'accidentaly' break thiers(horseback riding for example), or infact are born with only a partial covering or no hymen at all. Tampons make life easier, in my opinion, especially if you have a heavy flow, but just make sure you are relaxed when you try them the first time, it can be an uncomfortable sensation at first.

They can tear it, but then again so can just about anything else you do. It can easily break by sitting down, standing up, getting your first period, riding a horse, riding a bike, running... Just about ANYTHING could contribute to tearing your hymen.

So to answer your question, yes it can tear your hymen.

No, that's a load of crap. An urban legend made up by someone who had nothing better to do. A tampon does nothing but block the blood flow from your period, I promise.

Depends how thick it is and how tight you are. The first time you put one on it might be uncomfortable because your hymen will strech, but there might be a possibility its broken already. I would just go for it and find out!
Good luck!
