BeautifulMadness answered Sunday September 25 2005, 10:02 am: Exaggerating is most likely your problem!! No offence but I highly doubt you will have been refused from or have even applied to 50 jobs. Don't worry though, we all exaggerate. Just make sure you don't do it on your CV!
When you apply for a job, do a cover letter and a CV. Your cover letter should briefly say who you are, what job you're applying for, why you'd be good for the job etc. You can get templates for CVs online with help tips on writing them. Mmake sure your spelling and grammar is correct; that's a huge thing.
If you're under 16 or 18, it could simply be your age. You're not allowed to work in certain places until you're over those ages. Try applying for waitressing, working in a hairdressers etc if you're under 16 and still in school.
Follow up a no response of two weeks or longer with another letter or phone call, or even pop in and see what's going on. Don't be pushy, and don't follow up more than once or you'll look arrogant, desperate and annoying; but going once to check shows you care about the job.
Play up your strengths on your CV. If you're applying to be a waitress, say P.E. at school gave you excellent balance, or your younger siblings have given you enough patience to deal with annoyed customers, anything like that.
Finally, try and be unique! I know someone who applied for a job in a nursery and she actually put her CV and letter inside a balloon which they had to pop to get it out. This isn't always a good idea, for example if you're applying to be a lawyer lol!!, but if you think your future boss may have a sense of humour, and it's appropriate to the job, you might as well try! NotMeanJustHonest answered Sunday September 25 2005, 9:54 am: You're being a complete idiot who is probably old enough to live on their own, so they really shouldn't be asking people on advicenators for advice. Why don't you ask one of your friends who does have a job? Or read a magazine? Or search the internet?
poa answered Sunday September 25 2005, 9:06 am: The first piece of advice I completely agree with. Once you place an application you need to go back constantly ~ get to the point of being annoying. Each time you talk to them ~ they will more than likely look at your resume again, they are more likely to hire you that way. I have had very little luck with a job as well, I applied for a technician job at a new computer store in town, my father knows the manager, and a teacher was talking to him to try and get me a place there ~ he promised me an interview before I even started my resume. I turned it in and called/went in at least 2-3 times a week.
This was 3 months ago.
I was just told yesterday that a friend of mine (one which is vastly underqualified compared to me -.-) applied on wednesday and is already working there.
sk8trash answered Sunday September 25 2005, 6:06 am: I don't think companies would want someone that has applied for other jobs to be hired.. Seriously... Maybe they just think you application isn't good enough?? I don't know, but you might want to try and stick to ONE job, and see how that goes. But if you want to know why you didn't get those jobs, I suggest you ask the boss or whoever it is that took your application why you didn't get the job. But don't get angry and scream at them, that will just give you worse reputation.
Well, good luck.

TaintedPurity answered Sunday September 25 2005, 5:27 am: Try posting your resume' on www.monster.com
I got a ton of job offers that way.
Oh also, taking jobs from hook ups is a great way. My dad helped me get my first job at Best Buy because he used to be a manager there, and my friend helped me get my second job at Circuit City because he was already an employee. It's always easier when you have someone to put in a good word for you. [ TaintedPurity's advice column | Ask TaintedPurity A Question ]

I have the same problem.
Have you tried following up?
Go to the place you've applied and be like "Hi my name's _____. I applied here the other day, and I was wondering if you've had time to look at my application..." [ IxAmxCrying's advice column | Ask IxAmxCrying A Question ]
