Yes. its very possible. For aim being hard to hack, they mean aim itself. and AOL is hackable. OH but back to the ip. i know about 3 ways to easily get it off of you and once i have it i have your computer. the hacker can send viruses, trogans and whatever suites the hackers needs.
Firewalls help only when the hacker in question is inexperienced, lazy, or unknowledgeable. If not your screwed.
However, it is unlikely you will ever meet a true hacker, one that cares enough to hack your computer. Dont worry there are ways to prevent it, and safety measures but im not going into them as this is getting quite long....peace out

yes your friend is correct. even websites can give you viruses if you go to the wrong 1. virus makers don't even need your info to give you a virus. they just send it TO ALL and everyone gets it.

it can happen, but it is highly unlikely. aim is very hard to hack and ive heard that it is impossible to hack aol. all these big companys are protected by so many firewalls, making it nearly impossible to get in. so yes i can happen but the chances of it are slim to none.

They might be able to get your IP address but they most likely can't do anything with it...if you're that worried, get some firewalls. Advicenators knows your IP address and probably a lot of other websites do, too.
