Sweat

Question Posted Monday September 19 2005, 8:17 pm

I sweat alot from my underarms. Is that a problem. Uhm...some details. It's mostly during the warm months (but its still more than everyone else is sweating) and it can sometimes form like a pit to the bottom of my bra (rarely). I wear Mitchum Deodorant for Women. I weigh 130 and I'm 5'4. I like salt, but I dont eat ALOT of it. I mostly use a lot on corn, mashed potatoes, and chicken soup (but I dont have those on a daily basis. Usually once or twice a month.) I cant think of any other reasons why. Does anyone think any of those things could be the reason. Any other reasons? Is this unhealthy?? Could I die or anything?

You have hyperhidrosis. Go to your doctor and he can give you a special deoderant. You can even buy it by yourself. It's called Certain-Dri or something like that.

Hello there,

It is called "Hyperhidrosis" and you are not alone. Many many people have it to varying degrees.

Can you die from it? Absolutely.

Anyone who tells you that you cannot die from dehydration is an idiot.

Keeping your electrolytes balanced can be a chore, but you would do well to try a sports drink type thing as well as keeping your water intake up.

You talk about salt as if it was causing the problem... that isn't true. Not having enough salt in your diet with a condition like Hyperhidrosis can be really bad. :-(

I could send you link to treatment info including medication and surgery (only for really bad cases) but the links to all the info you need are on this page. Bet you can find them... they are "pretty" and on the right hand side of the page. :-)

DangerNerd.

You won't die from it...so don't worry (lol). It may be becaue you drink a lot of soda and/or that you don't drink enough water. Try drinking a good supply of water to reduce your sweating, andso that you won't be dehydrated. Also, keep your underarms free of hair because hair in underarm makes you sweat more. I don't think that corn, mashed potatoes, or chicken soup cause this. If you think you deodorant might be the problem (which it's probably not), you could switch to using Secret. I hope I helped!

Of course it's not unhealthy! Take it from someone who sweats alot somtimes...okay all the time. lol. It's probably just the deoderant your wearing. I would suggest trying Arrid XXX. Or somthing like that. It REALLY works. Don't use Secret or Adida's or stuff like that, cause those don't work.

Or if you think its not your deoderant, it's probably just because your going through "hormonal stuff" Like as you get older, your sweat glands get larger, so you sweat more. So you could just be getting rid of all that extra sweat. Trust me. If you change your deo you should be okay.

Hope I Helped!

I have the same exact problem. Yu might have hyperhidrosis. Dont worry, its not like deadly or anything lol. It might run in your family, or you could be the first one to have it in your family. I would recommend telling your mom, or someone yu can talk to. Then go to a dermatologist. Its hard to get a dermotologist appt, so i would first so your pediatritian. I really hope everything works out for you, because I know how much it sucks. Anything else, drop one in my inbox<3
