I can't actually answer this question fully because I am not the site administrator. However, I would suggest taking this up with the "big man" -- DangerNerd. [[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)] He will be able to fully answer your question. However, the site does not pay him a salary, he does have a real life, with a real job and a real family. Since other things (such as protecting the site) come first, you might want to be patient.
I do miss using HTML in answers, but it is not that big of a deal. You can still use some HTML on your column though! Be sure to always close a tag completely. (Remove spaces of course) Some of the basic codes that work :
< B > BOLD < / B >
< I > ITALIC < / I >
< S > STRIKETHROUGH < / S >
< P > PARAGRAPH [this is a standalone tag, it is one of the few that does not have to be closed. Unless you see something saying that it is a standalone tag, always be sure to close it - it can cause problems.]
& hearts ;
& dagger ;
& Dagger ;
& dimond ;
& spade ;
& club ;
Pretty much any code that has & [word] ; will work. For a great site of HTML codes, go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) or [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Be warned though, not all of the codes will work, and the ones that DO work will only work on your column.

It would probably be more appropriate to address this privately to DangerNerd, since it's his decision. If I recall, he has said that he plans to restore at least some HTML functionality once they've worked out a way to protect the system from abuse. But he's awfully busy, and this site doesn't pay him anything, so it would be good to be patient.
Personally, I'd LOVE to be able to use HTML here. At least for text formatting. ]
