Yes it is completely possible and more then likely for a girl to break her hymen (pop her cherry) doing other things than sex.

Horseback ridding, track and field, biking and many other activities can break a woman hymen.

It is not only illegal for you gyno to share this information with your parents, it is also really stupid. Because any self-respecting doctor should know that the hymen can be broken in many ways.

There are other, conclusive, virginity tests a woman can undergo to prove she is a virgin but the existence of the hymen is not one of them and none of those other tests can be performed without your permission.

A coversation between a pacient and the doctor is completely 100% confidential. In no way should your doctor be allowed to discuss anything with your parents. YOU MUST TELL YOUR DOCTOR TO NOT TELL YOUR PARENTS. If you don't tell your gyno, and if your parents ask, the doctor is obligated to tell.
No you do not have to have sex for your "cherry" to be popped. Now days active teenage girls can have it popped by simply excercising, being athletic. If you get hit the wrong way or fall the wrong way on your vagina it is definately possible for you to lose your hymen.
But this doesn't mean your not a virgin.

Yes, it's possible for it to tear without having sex. It can break from sitting down, using a tampon, masturbation, riding a horse, running... Many things can contribute to having your hymen torn.

And no, the gynocologist cannot say anything to her parents. What goes on in that room is strictly confidential between the girl and the gyno.

actually you can pop your cherry really easly doing stuff you regulary do. abotu the gyno.. everything should be kept confidenatually because the gyno has no right to tell her parents if she doesnt want to tell them. hope this helps.
