Conversation Starters

Question Posted Thursday August 18 2005, 1:39 pm

Hey guys
I was wondering if you knew any good conversation starters or something to talk about with people.. cause I hate that awkward silence.. ick.
Websites would help as well.
Thanks for your time

what to talk about? Hmm ... ask people about their day, if they've seen a good movie lately, what they liked about it, some actors/actresses they like, how they're doing with school, how their love life is going, how their family is, talk about upcoming holidays/birthdays, crack a joke, ask them if they've heard any good songs lately, talk about different types of music they like, ask them what's new with them, ask their favorite radio station, the last c.d. they bought, compliment them, explain to them how your day went if they seem interested, tell them something suprising or important.

What you should say to someone is ask their name first or ask them what they think about the teacher that is if he/she is in one of your classes or ask them something like a location, work problems, compliment him or her,or ask something that's on your mind about them something nice like that person seemed shy when you first saw him/her.You could talk about hobbies, music, interesting new events like about someone went to the hospital because somebody wanted to steal his/her ipod,or tv shows, celebrities there are lots of other things you can talk about.

-So, I heard the carnival's in town.
-There was this really funny website I went to today.
-Read any good books lately?
-Do you find Kazaa illegal?
-Guess what I found in my sock last night! Go ahead!
-Wanna go shoot some hoops?

And, the world famous...
-Lovely weather we're having today isn't it?

Also, there's a song by Lou & Peter Berryman, I forget the name, about small talk. You know, like in one verse, they guy is saying "Do you think it's gonna rain, that's a very nice chair, do you watch Lou Grant, are the coals ready yet, do you have your garden in, you you buy State Puff?" And it's a funny song too...
