I'm turning 16 and I am getting a car for my birthday. My dad wants me to get a new car, but I'm not so sure because I've heard that a new car loses a certain amount of value right as you drive it off the lot. I want a Jetta, and so what would be better: a new one, or one that is 1 or 2 years old?

As soon as you buy a brand new car, it loses about $5000 of value as soon as you drive it off the lot. It's a better value, economicly, if you buy one that's a few years older. If you're helping to pay for the car, you should seriously concider buying a used one from the Volkswaagen dealer. [ devilspawn_666's advice column | Ask devilspawn_666 A Question ]

If you are fortunate enough to have someone willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars on you ~ Then get quality. [ poa's advice column | Ask poa A Question ]
