BlackBeltxO answered Tuesday August 9 2005, 8:22 pm: Hey sweetie, yes chemical relaxers do help i got one. Now that im older i wish i wouldnt have gotten it because my hair didnt go back to my normal curlyness for about a year & a half, when it finally grew all the way out. But if your sure you want it to be straight, do it. Just remember. Eventually you are going to have to start straightening again, because it will grow out just like a perm does. Good luck. It does take a while to get it done, mine takes about 1-2 hours, but I have long hair. Mine works really well and it made my hair thinner and a lot more manageable. If you have someone who can do it, i suggest you buy a kit from the store because theyre only like 6 or 7 dollars and work just as well as the ones in the salons, but they cost 50-60 dollars and it gets expensive because you have to get it done every 4-6 months. It should work for your hair, but just know, once you start, you must do it the rest of your life. You will know when it needs to be done because the new hair creates a bump. If you have anymore questions, drop one in my inbox! Hope I helped!

p.s. dont scratch your head at least a day before you get it done because the chemicals will burn your head and scab and bleed and its a mess... and make sure you wash your hair! [ FLiP4DaStArZ09's advice column | Ask FLiP4DaStArZ09 A Question ]

Azngangsta answered Tuesday August 9 2005, 7:18 pm: I had my hair relaxed.(And I'm a dude!) But it works really well. But it can cost some serious cash. Mine cost $55. It also burns your scalp. It hurts for the first week, but after that, it's all fine.
But when if you do get a relaxer, you also have to get special shampoo and conditioer if you go swimming (because of the chlorine) Its called "Nexxus" There's a shampoo, deep clarifying treatment, and conditioner. Also, you will need to blowdry it everytime it does get wet. (or it will get somewhat puffy) It won't get as puffy as it would now, but it would get pretty puffy. But if you do get it done, your hair will look so beautiful! I hope I helped! Have anymore questions, just email me!
