I have gotten one of those letters before. But it was way out of my families price range (I believe it was going to cost around $3000+ for me to go) and at the time we doubted the legitimacy of the whole organization. I don't know the whole details but I know I didn't go to the meeting because I had something more important to do that night.

But I can help you with fundraiser ideas though.

-Try and fundraise in your community, pass out flyers explaining your situation and ask for any donation people may be willing to give.

-Try going through your church (if you have one) or any organization you belong to, asking for donations for this trip and explaining the details of it.

-Ask your family for donations and support for you. Ask for any donations they may be willing to give.

-Other ideas might be a bake sale, garage sale, craft sale, etc. Any kind of sale basiclaly.

I hope this helps and you have the best of luck with this! Good luck!

-Ryan

ive gotten those letters for years. ive heard they are $3000 a person but im not 100% sure. ive heard they are alot of fun too but i guess it depends on the trip. like i no they have some trips that are just ment for ppl that do certain sports and stuff but they send as many as they can to anybody they can becayse not alot of ppl do it. also i think they may have fundraising and stuff for you to do. Try Joe Corbis pizza it a great funraiser alot with candy sales and maybe even try a yard sale

I haven't been on the trip but I have heard a little about it so I'll see if I can help a little. Congratulations on getting selected for this program. It's a great experience and will look wonderful on a college transcript. Trip expenses vary by destination but include accomodations, meals, etc. They'll give you more details at orientation.

If you're a member of the church, ask if the church will sponsor your trip. Many churches will provide assistance for educational trips. You can also ask local businesses if they will sponsor your trip. Try your local newspaper and ask if they will sponsor your trip in return for an article on your experiences. See if the businesses that your parents work at will sponsor you. If you work, ask your boss if they will sponsor you. Other options to raise funds are a bake sale or a car wash.

Talk to your school guidance counselor about possible education grants that you may be eligible for. Some government programs provide funds for foreign travel to students.

Good luck.
