okay well in the past week my forehead and cheeks started breaking out (that area is like really oily and ive been washing my face like 2-3 times a day!!)... i usually never get pimples or zitz or anythin like that.. except for one everyonce in a while... well i was wondering what works best?! i dont have anymoney to go spend on proactive or whatever... but i have these facewash things and i was wondering which ones work the best? (any at home remedys would be great too!!) if your not sure what it is, i put a link next to it so you could figure out what the box looks like or whatever...
azngemini answered Friday August 5 2005, 6:30 pm: from your list, i've only used stridex pads. i dont know if they work well or not because i use it with other products, and i think that oxy pads are better than stridex pads. i wanted to buy the clearasil total control thing, but i was skeptical about that..i kno that the dove bar is good for your skin, but it doesnt say anything about helping your acne. you should use this AFTER most of your zits are gone because right now you need to clear your skin from acne
what you should do is use a cleanser to wash your face in the morning, and afterwards apply a spot treatment, i suggest one from clearasil ultra or total control or clean and clear total advantage spot treatment. then like in the afternoon, use an astringent from nozxema or clean and clear, or a toner from biore, or stridex or oxy pads. then after applying the astringent or toner or pad, wait till it drys, and apply the spot treatment again. then while you're taking a shower, use a cleanser to wash your face again. and right before you go to bed, apply the astringent/toner/pad, and then the spot treatment again.
i kno this sounds like a lot of work, and this might overdry your skin for a while, but this is what i do everyday to maintain zit-free healthy skin, and everyonce in a while people would compliment me on my clear and nice skin. you can try it, but if it overdries your skin, then you can ask me for help.
oh, and i know someone else said to use an alcohol based toner, but dont get one. alcohol can irritate the zits making it even more red and noticible, plus it can make your skin really really dry
VixenDark answered Friday August 5 2005, 3:21 pm: Personally, I use St. Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub, which I get at walmart, along with a normal face wash. Ocasionally, I also use an alcohol-based toner. [ VixenDark's advice column | Ask VixenDark A Question ]
AskPatty answered Friday August 5 2005, 2:08 pm: Hi there,
I recommend you to check out my column where it said about pimples and acne. I give a long list there.
Ok ive check all of your webpage and I think the stridex pad sounds interesting. I also recommend 3 in 1 defense cleanser. All of that can be find in walgreen.com The 3 in 1 cleanser one you just type in clearasil.
twistedsister17 answered Friday August 5 2005, 2:06 pm: I would definitely try clearasil. I use clearasil all the time and it really works on me. I sugguest washing your face with it at least twice a day. It might also be good to get the claerasil cream because i use it overnight and in the morning, i really get results. I would NOT reccomend stridex because when I used them, I got a rash on my face.
