It is normal for your weight to go up and down a few pounds on a day to day basis. 3 pounds is nothing. I'm a healthy 22 year old and have been thin my whole life, but throughout a month, my weight will fluctuate from 135-120 pounds.
You also shouldn't weigh yourself after you eat. You body is going to have a few extra pounds because all of the waste products are still inside you. Many people take this as "I ate too much" and then they will try to eat less. This may lead to eating disorders. It happened to my mother, and because of that, when I was growing up, we were never allowed to have a scale in the house.

x_mystery answered Tuesday August 2 2005, 10:25 am: When you're on your period, or right before it, your body usually retains water. Thats why you often feel bloated on your period. Soon after it ends, you should be back to your normal weight. [ x_mystery's advice column | Ask x_mystery A Question ]

DaysGoBy answered Tuesday August 2 2005, 10:16 am: Your weight can actually vary a few pounds from day-to-day so yes, it's normal. Especially during or right before your period because most women tend to retain water during that time.
