i went to the doctor to find out if i was pregnant and the nurse came in before hand to ask if i wanted to be or not and i of corce said no and the lady left the room to get the results and then came back to tell me that i wasnt. but that if i didnt start soon to try the test again because i could get a positive later on. i've heard that doctors can tell you that your not so that when you finally do find out its to late to have an abortion. is that true? and does it sound like that's what was going on in this situation?

If you just had a urine pregnancy test then it is the same as a home test. If you want to spend the money on a blood test...its more accurate. If you don't have your period do a test as suggested. I really doubt your doctors nurse was lying to you. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

I sure someone has been telling you a lie,but it's not the Doc. [ Dr_Joseph's advice column | Ask Dr_Joseph A Question ]

She's not allowed to lie to you about those things, and if she did she would get in a lot of trouble. It doesn't matter how far along you are, you can have an abortion at anytime. There is something called partial birth abortion. Partial birth abortion is when you deliver your baby when your due , only they suck the brains out of the baby. I don't at all mean to gross you out, that's just the kind of cruel world we're living in these days. So I think your response to her about whether you wanted to be pregnant, didn't determine her answer about whether or not you were pregnant. [ l3al3yd0LL's advice column | Ask l3al3yd0LL A Question ]
ncblondie answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 11:08 pm: It's unethical for a doctor to not tell you if you're pregnant. It is possible to get a positive later on if your hormone levels weren't up enough to show on the test.
Most doctors will tell you if you are pregnant even if they are against abortion to keep you from doing things that might hurt the baby. If you don't know you're pregnant, you won't know to eat well and get plenty of rest, etc.
I've had a couple pregnancy tests at the doctor/clinic as well as bought home pregnancy tests and someone always asks if i want to be or not. I think it's just people showing interest.
I would wait to see if your period came before trying another test. Sometimes hormone levels don't come up enough to get a positive on your test, especially early in the pregnancy so trying again later will show if you are.
