I'm Jewish but not religious.I want to become Christian but what exactly does it mean to be Christian. What are their beliefs? Also, does anyone have any words of wisdom to make me feel better when I don't feel that important?
There is one loving God over all, who created the universe.
He gave us free will, hoping we would love him in return.
We didn't. We did bad and stupid things.
God sent his only Son to save us from our stupidity. We were saved throught the life and death of Jesus Christ.
We are saved by faith alone! But with our faith comes a responsibility. Christianity focuses on loving others before yourself, and serving others. Our actions help to spread God's love to others.
If you want to learn more, visit a local church, and talk with the pastor.
Feel free to inbox be if you have any more questions. I am a Christian, more specifically a Catholic.
Words of Wisdom? Whenever you feel insignificant, remember that even a tiny thing can have a huge impact. You may feel unimportant, but you make change someone's life. [ VixenDark's advice column | Ask VixenDark A Question ]

Alpha345 answered Friday July 15 2005, 12:12 am: You have everything you need to become Christian. Have have studied the Torah? Does it not include the old testament, containing God's laws and his love for the people of Israel? Well if yes, then read the new testament. It shows God's love extended not only to the Jews, but also to the gentiles (everyone non-jewish) through his son, Jesus. My belief is that Jesus was the only son of God, born of the virgin mary, who suffered under the pontius pilate and through him was crucified, died, and was buried for ALL of my sins and the sins of the whole world. Was raised on the third day in his tomb and then 40 days later, ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God, from which he will come to judge the living, and the dead, on the final day and take those who believe in him to heaven. That is what I believe.
Please if you have anything you want to know, please feel free to email me at alpha_0mega345@yahoo.com. God's blessings! [ Alpha345's advice column | Ask Alpha345 A Question ]
AskAndy answered Thursday July 14 2005, 5:34 pm: Judiasm is the base of the Christian religion. Christians believe in 1 God. He goes by 3 names. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is on earth with us all the time, Jesus stands by the right hand side of God, The Father. All of them are the same 1 person though. The right hand has more blessing, and you can't eat certain things. Pick up a Bible and it will have answers. Then TBN and EWTN are both Christian networks on tv. Many different kinds of Christian religions are out there. Catholic, Pentacostal, Lutheran, Baptist, and so on. [ AskAndy's advice column | Ask AskAndy A Question ]
ncblondie answered Thursday July 14 2005, 5:25 pm: There are varying degrees of Christianity, which also encompasses many religions. I'm Baptist so I'll give it to you from that point of view. We believe that God created the heavens and earth as well as man. When He saw man's sin, he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Because Jesus died for us, we choose to take God into our hearts and our lives and live in his way. That's not to say we don't goof up from time to time, but we ask for forgiveness for our sins. That's a bare-bones explanation since a real explanation would take more space and time than I have at this moment.
Basically most religions are the same underneath in that they promote treating one another kindly and not breaking the law.
I'm giving you a couple sites which I think will be helpful in your search for religion. These are just sites I've found online. You are free to choose your own way. I won't get offended if being Baptist doesn't suit you.
A word of encouragement no matter what religion you are-Someone cares about you no matter what. It may be your God, your friend, your family, or a complete stranger, but someone always cares.
