swimming

Question Posted Thursday July 14 2005, 8:11 am

I really enjoy swimming so I don't want to have to not go just because I'm on my period. I know that pads don't work, but I usually use tampons when I'm swimming and I find them uncomfortable. Has anyone got any other suggestions? Do i even need to wear anything because I heard somewhere that you don't bleed when you're in water? Thanx

You can bleed when you're in water, I have a friend who learned this the hard way. Try a few different tampons and try to use the least absorbency possible, the discomfort often comes because the tampon gets water-logged and heavy. Hope this helps.

No, you don't bleed when you're in the water. But when your out of the water you will. So if you swim the whole time then you can change and you'll be just fine. ♥

hey!

who ever you heard that you dont bleed in water there right you dont. but what about before you get in? and if the tampon is umcomfortable then you may have it in wrong or you might have the wrong size tampon it may be to big.

good luck

Well whenever I go swimming/shower, I've never bled, so I think it is true, cause my mom also told me that..and mother knows best lol =) anyways, whenever I DO go swimming I just wear a pad incase cause whenever you aren't in the water you don't want to bleed on your suit and stuff do you?... so I just wear one anyways.. and then incase blood ever IS in the water or runnin' down your leg or anything just tell them your cut opened and it's bleeding again from earlier that day whenever you...fell or something. I hope I helped!!

Love,
MELii

I think you're right, because i'm scared of tampons and I went swimming on mi period without anything, and I didnt bleed, but go on a day where the flow isn't so strong.

well, ive done that.. and it kind of depends if your bleeding a lot, yeah know? well, id just go anyways. when you are in cold water you dont really bleed. but when you get out you do. so id just be quick to get in, and when you get out, make sure you hurry and put a pad on. and id wear one down to the pool also. well its kinda nasty but thats what i think you could do. or else, just not go swimming... periods are a pain in the butt! well i hope i helped!

yes.. you deffidently need to wear something.. even if it's on your last day.. i didn't use anyting on my last day and i got blood in my swim suit (yuck)... even when your in the water it doesn't take your blood.. yeahh pad's don't work because the water soaks up in the pad and it feels like a diaper (not that it doesn't in the first place) tampons are the only thing that will work in this situation.. i am wondering if you used juniors? tampax juniors makes it not feel uncomfortable.. i dont' know what you use.. but if you don't use them i think you should try them out and see how they work.. hope i helped :-)

you cant go in with your period without a tampon because although you dont bleed in the water, as soon as you get out it starts up again.
