I think I love this boy named Mat. I'm not sure. Every time I think about him I feel sick and I cry. Everytime I hear the song We Belong Together by Maria Carrie I think about him and I cry. He was the first boy I ever held hands with on the bus, and he broke up with me that night. I cried myself to sleep every night. Please tell me what is wrong with me. I am 12, and I am a girl.

You THINK you love him. Honestly, I don't think you love him. 1) You're a bit young to really see what love is and what infatuations are and 2) When you're in love you don't "think", you KNOW. Not trying to put you down here; just telling you the truth. I know you think I don't know what I'm talking about, but even if you think that in the future you'll understand what I meant.
You will get over it. But the only way to get over it is to LET yourself get over it. So stop crying yourself to sleep at night. Start doing things you love doing. Go out with family or friends.
Holding hands with one boy for the first time doesn't have to mean anything. There will be other boys and they'll hold your hand, give you your first kiss, etc.
You're only twelve. Other people have gone through their teens, even their adult years without a boyfriend. I think you can live without having a preteen boyfriend.
Dating is all about bonding with someone, gaining new experiences, and finding out what you need and want. If things don't work out, you move on and live life.
