It'll work, if it doesn't work, people who have it won't be able to play it if they got a new computer. Just make sure he actually gives you the code along with the CD... You might not be able to register online if he already used the online registration code though.

Yeah I've borrowed Sims games from people and they worked on my computer. It should be fine as long as you have all the requirements.
