I WANT A CUTE GIRLY THEME

Question Posted Thursday June 30 2005, 9:04 pm

I have a dresser, bed, a bookshelf that's attached to my wall and a desk. My furniture is like paper wood color and I really really hate it. I was wondering if I should throw away my nancy drew and crappy books like that, but my mom won't let me, what should I do. My closet doesn't have room for my shoes either. I don't know what to do. If I put my magazines on my books shelf I have over 50 fashion mag. my dad said my bookshelf will have a breakdown. Please Help I rate really high for any answer that helps!

Most furniture can be painted whatever colors you like. Along with the walls if they are not papered. In my daughters room we painted it all white. Got smaller cans of bright yellow, blue, green and red. Got a paint brush and just flung the colored paint on the walls. It was kind of neat. Fun to do too.

At Dollar General stores (or whatever you have in your area like that), they have all kinds of
stacking metal baskets or colored plastic milk crate things that stack one on top the others. Maybe you could get several and use one for shoes, one for magazines etc. Stack them in your closet or just anywhere. They are cheap.

Don't throw away your books. Pass them on to a cousin or sister. If all else fails donate them to the library.

That's all I have to offer. Hope you find something in here you can use. :)

I would suggest getting colored lightbulbs. They have these lightbulbs with pink glass instead of clear, and that could give your room a different glow. The best brand is called "fiesta." If you don't like seeing pink wherever you go, you could get a lamp and put a colored lightbulb in and just use regular lights for the rest of the room. About those crappy books, you can donate them to some charity. For your evil-looking paper wood furniture you could edge it with a pink boa and change the slip cover to a different fabric or color. And you can spread glitter and beads throughout your room...

well i would have it so that just your magazines are on the bookshelf. so if you can, ask your mom if you pack up the nancy drew books if you can keep them in the closet. it would be a compromise that you wouldnt get rid of them COMPLETELY and theyd be there just in case.
(and do you really need ALL those mags? i mean since theyre fashion ones, you could probably get rid of the older ones)

with the shoe thing, get a shoe rack!! seriously theyre amazing! one that either hangs on your closet door, or if thats not possilbe you can get one that goes on the ground pretty cheap too at like target or walmart.

if your furniture isnt the color you want it, can you paint it? if you can, you should do like a solid black color and then cute rainbow polka dots or zig zag lines!

hope this helps!!- :)
