you can search google and get a bunch of sights that will help you learn tabs/chords for songs or just in general...
i did... now i can play michelle branch, greenday, incubus... and a bunch of other stuff... it is cool...
OR you can go out and buy books that will teach you how to read tab as well as actual sheet music, and then you can buy actual artist books and play like a pro...

Well a guitar looks like this
E/-----/----------/---------/---
B/-----/----------/---------/---
G/-----/----------/---------/---

A/-----/----------/---------/---

each /-----/ is a FRET.
and so when it says 1,2,3,4,5 etc. thats the FRET number.
on each string you read TABS from top to bottom
which evernot comes first. example:
/----4---2-/-----1--/-4-------/-7------
/------5--9/------3-/----5---/-----8--
thats not a song by the way.
First you play the 4 because it comes first so hold you finger down on the FOURTH FRET.
then 5 then 2 etc..after you practice go here for songs...
